Highest dividend stocks in the S&P 500

1. Dow Inc. (DOW)

Dow is involved in the production of different chemicals that are used in a variety of industries. Its segments include packaging and specialty plastics, industrial intermediates and infrastructure, as well as performance materials and coatings. Dow is headquartered in Midland, Michigan.

  • Dividend yield: 9.4 percent
  • Annual dividend: $2.80

2. LyondellBasell Industries (LYB)

LyondellBasell Industries is a global chemical company that sells plastics and chemicals to customers in various industries, including food packaging, home furnishings, automotive components, paints and coatings. The company generated more than $40 billion in revenue during 2024.

  • Dividend yield: 9.3 percent
  • Annual dividend: $5.36 

3. Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA)

Walgreens Boots Alliance operates retail pharmacies across the U.S., Europe and Asia. It generated $147.7 billion in sales during its fiscal 2024 and is one of the largest purchasers of prescription drugs and other health products in the world. The company has a dividend history that dates back to 1989, but slashed its dividend by 48 percent in early 2024 to conserve cash and improve its balance sheet.

4. Alexandria Real Estate Equities (ARE)

Alexandria Real Estate Equities is a real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on the life science industry. The company develops mega-campus ecosystems designed for companies focused on scientific and technological innovations. At the end of 2024, it had 391 properties in North America consisting of about 44.1 million rentable square feet.

  • Dividend yield: 7.4 percent
  • Annual dividend: $5.28

5. Pfizer (PFE)

Pfizer is a global pharmaceutical company that offers products that treat various cancers, vaccines against infectious diseases and a number of specialty care products. It generated revenue of $63.6 billion in 2024, down from more than $101 billion in 2022 due to a decline in its Covid-19 vaccine business. 

  • Dividend yield: 7.3 percent
  • Annual dividend: $1.72

6. Healthpeak Properties (DOC)

Healthpeak Properties invests in and manages real estate focused on health care discovery and delivery, including labs, outpatient medical assets and continuing care retirement community assets. Healthpeak’s portfolio included 697 properties at the end of 2024, the majority of which were outpatient medical facilities.

  • Annual dividend: $1.22

7. Altria Group (MO)

Altria Group owns a portfolio of tobacco products, including Philip Morris USA. The company says it is focused on returning cash to shareholders while also moving adult smokers away from cigarettes over time.

  • Dividend yield: 6.9 percent
  • Annual dividend: $4.08

8. United Parcel Service (UPS)

UPS is one of the largest package delivery companies in the world and also provides supply chain management solutions. In 2024, the company delivered an average of 22.4 million packages per day and generated $91.1 billion in total revenue.

  • Dividend yield: 6.7 percent
  • Annual dividend: $6.56

9. Ford Motor Co. (F)

Ford is one of the largest automakers in the world, selling cars under its Ford and Lincoln brands. It sold more than 4.4 million vehicles globally in 2024 and reported consolidated revenues of roughly $185 billion.

  • Dividend yield: 6.4 percent
  • Annual dividend: 75 cents

10. Verizon (VZ)

Verizon is a leader in communication and technology services. Along with AT&T and T-Mobile, it provides the majority of mobile-phone services in the U.S. Verizon generated about $135 billion in revenue in 2024.

  • Dividend yield: 6.2 percent
  • Annual dividend: $2.71

A dividend yield is calculated by dividing a company’s annual per share dividend by its current share price. For example, a company that paid an annual dividend of $1.00 per share would have a 5 percent dividend yield when its share price was $20.00.
