I’ve been fired three times, early in my career, so I found this data point very soothing. Getting fired is one of life’s many gut punches. The worst part of being fired, besides the loss of income, is the internal blame we foist upon ourselves.

But that internal blame can turn into an internal flame, if you use the firing to spur you on to becoming a better version of yourself. Like many of the Self-Made Millionaires in my Study, I used those firings to drive me towards continuous growth and improvement.

And that’s the key to recovering from a firing. Get better at what you do.

If you say you hate what you do, I tell you this – you will love what you do, once you become very good at it.

The “hate” is actually a “hate for sucking” at what you do. Get better and you’ll no longer hate what you do. That’s a fact.
