Christmas Day 2025 falls on a Thursday, December 25, and it is a federal holiday. As a result, all United States Postal Service (USPS) locations will be closed, and there will be no mail pickup or delivery. Here’s a recap of what will be available that day…

  • Retail counters closed: You cannot pick up packages requiring employee assistance or send outgoing mail with clerk support.
  • No mail delivery or pickup: Any mail placed in your mailbox on Dec. 25 will be collected on Dec. 26.
  • Limited access options: You can still access unsecured post office boxes, use self-service kiosks, and drop prepaid letters or packages in blue collection boxes. However, these will not be processed until Dec. 26.

Are FedEx and UPS Closed for Christmas 2025?

Like USPS, FedEx, and UPS suspend nearly all services on Christmas Day.

  • FedEx: Only FedEx Custom Critical operates. FedEx Ground, Express, and Home Delivery are closed.
  • UPS: Only UPS Express Critical operates. UPS Ground, Air, International, and UPS Stores are closed.

Both carriers resume normal operations on Friday, Dec. 26, 2025.

Bottom Line: If you need to ship or receive packages around Christmas 2025, plan ahead. USPS, FedEx, and UPS will all be closed on Dec. 25, with only urgent “Critical” services available. Regular service resumes the next day.
