Is Costco Open on Christmas Day 2024?

I love Costco, especially during the holiday season! Costco typically has good deals, but during the holidays, Costco amps up the value of a membership. For instance, you can buy $100 gift cards for Instacart for only $80. Whether you give these as gifts or keep them for yourself, that’s a great deal! If alcohol is your preference, you can choose from wine and beer (and hard alcohol in some states), all at prices cheaper than you’ll find anywhere else. If you’re looking to track down these bargains, you may wonder, is Costco open on Christmas Day 2024?

Is Costco Open on Christmas Day 2024?

The quick answer is no, Costco is not open on Christmas Day. Costco is closed for seven holidays throughout the year:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter Sunday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

While you may find it inconvenient that Costco closes for so many holidays, it’s also refreshing to see a company that gives all of its employees most major holidays off.

Does Costco Close Early on Christmas Eve?

This year, Christmas Eve falls on a Tuesday. Typically, Costco opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. In previous years, Costco has opened early on Christmas Eve, but they also closed early. Last year, they opened their doors at 8:30 a.m. and closed at 5 p.m. To be sure, call your local Costco ahead of time and verify their hours before you make a trip to the store.

Does Costco Close Early on New Year’s Eve?

Costco has treated New Year’s Eve similar to Christmas Eve in previous years. So, it is safe to assume they will open early and close early on that day.

What Other Holiday Deals Can You Get at Costco?

In addition to the restaurant gift cards and alcohol mentioned earlier, Costco has many other great holiday deals.

Though you may not think of Costco as a place to buy clothes, you can buy matching Christmas pajamas and other great Christmas finds there. In fact, they have some exclusive deals that you can only get at the warehouse retailer.

For those on your gift list who are tricky to buy gifts for or have everything they need, you can buy a Costco gift basket. They always have unique options each year and there is sure to be something there for everyone on your list.

If you need outdoor decorations, Costco has everything from a lighted large snowman to reindeer to lighted garland. They also have large Christmas trees and indoor decorations. As is typically for Costco, all are offered at a lower price than you can find at other stores.

Final Thoughts

Costco is an excellent place to buy holiday items, whether for presents, eating, drinking, or decorating. However, go to Costco early in the season because they run out of holiday items early. And, you can’t be a true last-minute shopper because Costco is closed on Christmas Day.
