Are Banks Open on Father’s Day 2025?

Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 15 this year, which means it’s right around the corner. This important holiday is always celebrated on the third Sunday of June. It honors dads for all of their hard work and contributions to their families. Hopefully, all the fathers out there get to relax on Father’s Day and take a much-needed break. But if you want to check some items off your to-do list to prepare for the work week ahead, you may be wondering, are banks open on Father’s Day 2025? Here’s what you need to know.

Are Banks Open on Father’s Day 2025?

Unfortunately, most banks won’t be open on Father’s Day because financial institutions are usually closed on Sundays. Father’s Day isn’t a federal/bank holiday, so banks don’t observe it specifically. However, since Father’s Day falls on a Sunday when banks are typically closed, you probably won’t be able to visit your local bank or credit union on June 16.

There are some exceptions, though. Bank branches inside supermarkets may operate on Sundays on a limited schedule. These locations are typically open for a few hours in the morning or early afternoon, so you’ll need to do your banking early. It’s also a good idea to call ahead and confirm that your local supermarket branch is open before you head there.

You may also be in luck if you’re a TD Bank, Chase, or Bank of America customer. Certain locations are reportedly open on a reduced schedule on Sundays. If neither of these options is available to you, you can always use your mobile banking app to transfer money and check your balance. You can also head to the nearest ATM since they’re often open 24/7.

If you need to speak to a banker in person, banks will reopen on Monday, June 16, and operate during their normal business hours. Many banks are also open on Saturdays, so you could get your banking tasks out of the way the day before Father’s Day. Keep in mind, banks may close early on Saturdays.

Holiday Bank Schedule 2024

Now you have the answer to the question “Are banks open on Father’s Day 2025?” But what about the rest of the 2025 holiday bank schedule?

Typically, banks only close in observance of federally recognized holidays (also known as bank holidays). There are 11 throughout the year, including:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

If a federal holiday falls on a Sunday, it’s usually observed the following Monday. This ensures employees get a true day off to spend with their families. If a federal holiday falls on a Saturday, you can expect banks to be open the preceding Friday during normal business hours.

Some banks may close early on major holidays like Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, even though they aren’t federally recognized. Banks also shut down occasionally due to inclement weather. It’s never a bad idea to call ahead and confirm that your local bank or credit union is open before you visit, especially if you’re unsure.
