Becoming a self-made millionaire is not a matter of chance—it’s the result of intentional strategies and disciplined habits. Drawing from Tom Corley’s Rich Habits research, which analyzed the behaviors of self-made millionaires, we explore four key strategies that these individuals consistently use to manifest wealth. By adopting these approaches, you can chart your own path to financial success.

#1 Develop a Clear Vision of Who or What You Want to Be

According to Corley’s research, 70% of millionaires had a specific goal of who they wanted to become or what they wanted to achieve. This clarity acts as a roadmap, guiding their decisions and actions. They visualize their ideal life—whether it’s owning a successful business, achieving financial independence, or making a meaningful impact—and align their daily efforts with that vision. To adopt this habit, take time to define your goals with precision. Write down your vision, revisit it regularly, and let it steer your choices, ensuring every step moves you closer to your desired outcome.

#2 Choose the Path to Wealth That Aligns with Your Personality

Corley’s research identifies four primary paths to wealth, each suited to different strengths and personalities:

#1 The Saver-Investor Path – Saver-Investors focus on living frugally and consistently/prudently investing 20% or more of their net income over time.

#2 The Big Company Climber Path – Company Climbers excel within organizations, climbing corporate ladders through dedication, hard work, skill and relationship-building.

#3 The Virtuoso Path – Virtuosos master a niche, becoming experts in fields like law, medicine, or technology.

#4 The Entrepreneur-Dreamer Path – Entrepreneurs pursue some dream or build one or more businesses, leveraging innovation, risk-taking, leadership skills and strategic goals.

Self-made millionaires become millionaires because they choose the path that best aligns with their personality, skills, and passions. To emulate this, assess your strengths—Are you risk-averse? Detail-oriented? Creative?

Then, select the path to wealth that best fits your unique personality.

Forcing yourself into a mismatched path will lead to frustration, unhappiness and financial struggles while alignment with the right path to wealth will fuel persistence and success.

#3 Forge Growth Habits

Corley’s findings emphasize that millionaires are relentless about self-improvement, dedicating time daily to habits that foster growth. These “Rich Habits” include reading for knowledge (88% read 30 minutes or more daily), exercising regularly (76% engage in 30 minutes of aerobic activity four times a week), and setting specific, actionable goals. They also practice skills like time management and continuous learning to stay ahead in their fields. Growth habits compound over time, creating a foundation for wealth. To adopt this strategy, commit to small, consistent actions—read industry-related material, exercise to boost energy, or set one achievable goal daily. These habits build momentum, transforming potential into tangible results.

#4 Adopt Relationship-Building Habits

Wealth creation is rarely a solo endeavor. Corley found that 79% of millionaires actively network, spending time building and nurturing relationships with other success-oriented individuals. They seek mentors, join professional groups, and surround themselves with people who inspire and challenge them. These connections provide opportunities, advice, and partnerships that amplify success. Millionaires also practice positivity, gratitude, and reliability, making them magnetic to others. To implement this, dedicate time each week to networking—attend events, reach out to mentors, or connect with peers. Corley found self-made millionaires use the following 3 tools to grow their relationships: #1 Happy Birthday Calls, #2 Hellos Calls and #3 Life Event Calls.

Also, in seeking to develop power relationships with influencers, focus on giving value first, whether through support or expertise, to build trust and create trust.

Conclusion

Self-made millionaires don’t rely on luck—they follow deliberate strategies rooted in vision, alignment, growth, and relationships. By adopting these four Rich Habits Strategies. By crafting a clear vision, choosing a wealth path that suits your personality, forging growth-oriented habits, and building strong relationships—you can manifest wealth over time.

Start small, stay consistent, and these strategies will help you manifest wealth.
